Internationally acclaimed as a performer, choreographer and director, Maria Benitez is recognized as one of the finest exponents in her field - Spanish dance and all that it embraces. Ms. Benitez is best known for the work of the company she and her husband Cecilio founded and direct - Maria Benitez Teatro Flamenco. With a long standing reputation for excellence, the company's history includes performances at festivals and major concert halls in all 50 states, Canada, Germany, Holland, Spain, Austria and 12- week summer seasons in Santa Fe, NM since the early 1970's. 
Next Generation performs La Zapateado at The Lodge at Santa Fe
Next Generation is ISA’s dynamic youth company of 8 dancers and 2 guitarists ranging from 10 – 18 years of age, now in their 9th year was formed in 2001 under the direction of Maria Benitez.
HIGHLIGHTS
Next Generation performs for community events including Santa Fe Fiestas, Spanish Market, and O’Keeffe Day, fund-raisers, and civic events
Performances weekly during Maria Benitez’ Teatro Flamenco’s 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009 summer seasons at The Lodge at Santa Fe.
Repertory includes “La Jota”, a difficult and lively regional dance from Aragón, Spain, that is rarely if ever seen in New Mexico, and “La Zapateado”, an equestrian dance with very intricate footwork, choreographed for the company by Pablo Rodarte in 2008
Serves approximately 8,000 New Mexico residents and visitors performing year-round at community events
Members graduate to perform with professional adult companies, as well as continue their studies in Spanish dance and music in the U.S. and Spain
